SURGE Programs

SURGE Programs are free and available to all students across Nova Scotia in any post-secondary degree at any university or college. Some programs require registration. At SURGE, science is for everyone, and we welcome all students interested to participate.

Drop-In Clubs

Drop-in clubs are free, drop-in programs where Dalhousie students of any discipline can learn hands on skills in certain disciplines. Clubs occur once weekly, students can join when it works for them. In 2026/27, we have two operating clubs.

Science Outreach Ambassadors

The Science Outreach Ambassadors Program is an eight-month volunteer initiative designed for upper level undergraduate and graduate students at Dalhousie interested in science outreach, mentorship, and community engagement.

Hackathons

SURGE Hackathons bring interdisciplinary student teams together for a weekend of innovation, tackling a new real-world theme each semester. Explore our upcoming hackathons.

Applied Innovation in Science

A full-year credited capstone course focusing on the processes of innovation and entrepreneurship. This course is project-based and taught through team-based experiential learning. Only available to current Dalhousie undergraduate science students.

Outreach

Outreach programming connects Dalhousie's science innovation sandbox with high school and community groups to spark interest in science and show students what's possible when you innovate in science fields.
