Science Outreach Ambassadors Program
The Science Outreach Ambassadors Program is an eight-month volunteer initiative designed for students at Dalhousie interested in science outreach, mentorship, and community engagement.
Offered in collaboration with SURGE Science Sandbox and the Mentorship and Academic Program (MAP).
Science Outreach Ambassadors are leaders, mentors, and facilitators, supporting the delivery of hands-on science outreach while building confidence as educators and ambassadors for science. Science Outreach Ambassadors will primarily deliver neuroscience-focused outreach activities for high school and undergraduate students.
What do Science Outreach Ambassadors do?
Lead workshops, lab tours, and mentorship activities for high school and undergraduate students (typically with a neuroscience focus).
Co-facilitate outreach events, student transition programming, and other educational initiatives
Build skills in leadership, public speaking, and science communication
Is a student at Dalhousie University interested in supporting the next generation of scientists.
Commit to a minimum of 15 volunteer hours per semester
Commit to both fall and winter semesters
Eligibility:
Accepted participants are eligible to receive a $300 honorarium per semester upon completing the required minimum volunteer hours.

Orientation Session #1: September 16th, 2026
Training Session #1: September 17th, 2026
Training Session #2: September 24th, 2026
Training Session #3: September 29th, 2026
Accepted participants must complete all orientation and training sessions.
